Puppet MakingSimple puppets for children to create themselves. From 3 to 9 years.Sock PuppetsThese wonderful sock, glove and creepy crawly puppets have proved very popular with schools around the UK, both with children and teachers. The challenge is for each child to be given a basic puppet, either a sock or canvas glove puppet, or fur mitten and then to create their very own character using craft materials like Funky Foam, Fur Balls, pipe cleaners etc. The children have to decide whether to make their puppet a boy or girl or even an animal like a dog or rabbit. This encourages the children to use their own imaginations and you would be amazed at the different creations that they come up with. Once the puppet is finished the children can be asked to give their character a name and a voice that is different from their own.The pictures below are examples of some of the puppets created by children at a Kallini Puppet workshop, using the basic sock and canvas glove puppets.
